28 April 2014 – Genting, based in Malaysia, has submitted a bid for an upstate New York casino license. The company currently has plans to build Resorts World Las Vegas at a cost of $4 billion. It is reported that Genting paid an $1 million application fee to the Gaming Commission of New York in order to apply for one of the four casino licenses for the Catskill and Hudson Valley regions. The firm hasn’t selected a site yet, but it will announce it in the coming weeks.
