29 May 2014 – Lola’s Underground Casino is the first ever UK land-based casino situated below the main stage and auditorium of the Hippodrome. Offering go-go dancers performing in a tiger cage just a few feet from the gambling tables. Players can view the performances and gamble at the same time. About 15 performers will perform solo on rotation. The casino is named after a chorus girl, Lola McGuire, famous for organizing card games and drinking parties in the 1900s. According to Hippodrome owner Simon Thomas, the casino shows that gambling and entertainment can sit side by side.
