30 June 2014 – According to reports, Atlantic City in New Jersey will probably have three land-based casinos shut down by the end of August this year. Atlantic Club has been taken down by rivals, while the Revel Casino will most likely shut its doors if it can’t find a buyer. The Showboat Casino will also close its doors. Analysts view the closures as negative. The closures will cause an increase in the unemployment rate in the state. Others, like Mayor Don Guardian, view the closures as a positive and believe that Atlantic City is transforming itself to become a multi-faceted destination.
