EU Wants Tobacco-Style Warnings for Online Gambling Adverts

european-union-75x7510 July 2014 – Reuters reported last week that the European Commission wants to urge the members of the European states to create health warnings, similar to those put on tobacco products, on online gambling adverts. The warnings could include specific odds of winning and losing, information on the risks of gambling and details on where to seek help for problem gambling. The European Commission also wants to push bans on Internet gambling websites that sponsor sporting events which appeal to youth. This move might be effective in countries that have a dim view of eGaming.
