7 July 2014 – The lawyers of poker pro Phil Ivey rejected the claims of Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa that Ivey cheated in baccarat a few months ago. They argued that Ivey simply has “extraordinary powers of observation” and that his winnings are result of his amazing playing skills. Borgata filed a law suit that Ivey cheated the casino out of $9.6m while playing the punto banco version of baccarat. They say he used a technique called edge sorting to identify high-value cards in the game which enabled him to win over 9 million dollars.
