After one year delay, the construction work on the MGM Resorts’ Springfield Casino and Hotel in Massachusetts finally started. Work began on the parking garage with 3,400 spaces and workers have partially or completely destroyed several downtown buildings to make room for the construction of the large sale casino resort. The venue was projected to open its doors in 2017, but due to some setbacks it will open in the fall of 2018. Two setbacks are the replacement of the 25 story hotel tower with 6 story building and the reduction of the footage of the project by 10%. The owners also delayed the opening because they believed it would negatively affect the casino because of the construction work on the nearby highway.
